  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground sumac
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic (or garlic powder)
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt (to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • generous pinch ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (divided)
  • 1/4 cup tahini (optional)
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons water (or as much as needed to get desired consistency)
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • generous pinch fine sea salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker and add water.
  2. In a bowl, mix all ground spices and sprinkle over the chicken.
  3. Drizzle half of the olive oil on top of the seasoned chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours until tender.
  5. Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks.
  6. For the optional sauce, combine tahini (if using), lemon juice, minced garlic, and water until smooth.
  7. Mix shredded chicken with the sauce and serve warm.
