  • 6 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 oz. full-fat cream cheese (for frosting)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt (for frosting)
  • 12 Tablespoons sour cream (for frosting)
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a springform pan by greasing it and lining the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, blend softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk vegetable oil, sugars, mashed bananas, and eggs until well-mixed. Fold in flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and chocolate chips.
  4. Layer half of the banana bread batter in the pan, followed by the cheesecake mixture, then top with remaining banana bread batter.
  5. Bake for about 90 minutes or until set. Cool completely before refrigerating for at least four hours.
  6. Prepare frosting by blending cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and sour cream until smooth. Spread over chilled cheesecake and garnish with walnuts if desired.
